Synthetic Biology

Our lab uses a synthetic biology approach to understand how regulatory mechanisms found in natural gene circuits (i.e. cooperativity, phosphorylation, degradation, gene synthesis, inhibition) influence dynamics in gene networks.  We do this by building artificial gene circuits or transplanting natural gene circuits from other organisms into budding yeast, such that we can study and measure their in vivo dynamics using the powerful tools of yeast molecular genetics.
